Remain Aware

Crosspointe Residents – be aware of your surroundings.  Always remember to lock your vehicle doors, park your vehicles in the garage if you can. Do not leave iPads, lap tops, or other equipment in your vehicles overnight.  Lock the garage door between the house and garage.  If you see unusual activity around your home or in the community, do not hesitate to call the non-emergency police number (703) 691-2131 and report it.  If the activity turns out to be nothing, no harm done.  If it turns out to be something, you may have stopped a crime in action.

Pool Lap Lane Reservations

Based on the success of SignUpGenius our first pool weekend, we are now opening the lap lane signup list in one week blocks, Mon – Sunday. The signup will open on Sundays and will stay open throughout the week for last minute reservations to allow more flexibility.

Because the pools do not yet have a way of monitoring the signup list real time, we ask that members bring email confirmations of their signup. A print out, or displaying the email on your phone are both acceptable.

As a common courtesy to our members we ask that you limit signups to once per day and that you cancel your reservation if you are unable to lap swim.

Best Practices to Minimize COVID-19 Health Risks While Playing Tennis

Health risks can be reduced by following a list of best practices suggested by the US Tennis Association (USTA).  Here’s a summary of their best practices.  For a complete listing, please see

·       Do not play if you (or anyone in your household) have any symptoms of COVID-19.

·       Consider playing only with members of your household.

·       Consider playing singles (where players are typically 85 feet apart most of the time).

·       Try to stay at least six feet apart from other players.

·       If possible, play on a court adjacent to an empty court.

·       Use hand sanitizer before, during, and after playing.

·       Avoid shaking hands, fist bumps, and high fives.

·       Avoid touching the surfaces of gates, benches, and nets.

·       Do not handle balls from an adjacent court.  Instead, use just your racquet to return a stray ball.

·       Avoid sharing food, drinks, or towels.

·       Consider playing with two cans of differently numbered balls so each player will handle a different set of balls when serving.

·       Leave the courts immediately after playing.

The Board agreed that all Crosspointe outdoor recreational facilities to include playgrounds and basketball courts will remain closed until further notice.  The Board made a decision on May 26 regarding the pools opening inphase 1 begins on May 29.  Pools will remain closed for the Memorial Day Weekend.

Update on Portable Basketball Goals in Crosspointe

Many Crosspointe families are staying home these days as directed to keep safe and well during this COVID-19 quarantine.  It's a healthy idea to go outside to play as added activity, exercise, and to keep from feeling "cabin fever."

At their meeting on May 4, the Architectural Review Board (ARB) discussed ways to encourage outdoor play and recreation.

The Crosspointe Standard that addresses recreation equipment is Crosspointe Swim and Racquet, Inc. / March 2012 Architectural and Property Maintenance Standards Handbook / Article XI: Standards and Requirements for Modifications / Section KK. Recreation & Play Equipment, Basketball Goals, Tree Houses, et. al. / Pages 33 and 34.

Sport/Recreation equipment for permanent placement must be located in the area behind the house defined by the extended side planes of the house and located no closer than 12ft from property lines. Permanent location in front or side yards is prohibited.  The guidelines for front yard placement of basketball hoops will be relaxed during this COVID-19 pandemic period.  During the 2020 annual inspection process, no violations will be issued or furthered for basketball hoops placed in the front yard.

At some point in the future the ARB will resume enforcement of this Standard.  We will let you know when.

Exterior Alteration Applications are still required to be submitted to the ARB for play sets, swing sets, trampolines, tree houses, and other recreation equipment.

To request an application or if you have questions, contact the Crosspointe on-site office at 703-690-2321.
